Singer/Songwriter/Promoter
Hello to all my friends and family. I live in Andrews, North Carolina. I have been singing 50 years. For 40 years, I have been singing full time.
I was raised on a mill village in the small town of Belmont, North Carolina. We were poor, but we didn't know it. There were many of us children that played together in the village. When we got hungry, we would sometimes eat with one other at different houses. We were one big family. We would walk to school, would play ball and would ride our second-hand bikes together. The boys were the girls' protectors. These boys would not let anyone at the city school run over us. That village is torn down now, but the people have not forgotton each other. We have a reunion every year to see one another. A book has been written about us. I have more good memories than bad. Sometimes, I wish I was a 16-year-old again ... sitting on the porch drinking a glass of tea. I wish I knew then what I know today. There are many choices I would not have made. I have gotten to travel a lot in my career, and I feel I am serving my Lord in the process. I thank God for my friends, my family and how I was raised. I honor my fans, my friends, my family ... especially, my elders.
I am the mother of 2 beautiful daughters. I, also, have 4 grandchildren ( 2 boys and 2 girls). I have been married to Willis Whitaker for 44 years now. I was saved at a young age, and my faith is very important to me. I have also become a choir director in my local Baptist church.
I am a lung cancer suvivor. I praise His name every day for wiping that stuff out of my lungs. I love to sing for my Lord.
Please, check out my entire site. I would be honored for you to purchase my music. You can also comment on my page. You can book me to sing in your church.
I have started promoting other artists. These artists are booked into the mission field, as well as churches and concerts. Get in touch with me and I will be happy to tell you more.
Please pray for me and God Bless You,
Joan
